Digital CPRI Optical Transport System
09 October 2019, Helios launches the new generation Digital CPRI Optical Transport system.
Utilizing a centralized digital CPRI distributed architecture, Helios® M-DOTS™ is a two-tier architecture consisting of the Optical Master Units (OMUs) and Optical Remote Units (ORUs).
RF signals from Base Stations, off-air, BDAs or combination thereof can be received. In the case of off-air feed, the OMU has the option to combine the functions of the off-air Repeater and OMU to provide transmission and distribution of radio signals. The signal is filtered and then converted to a digital CPRI data stream. The digital CPRI packet data stream is transported via single mode fiber and received by the ORUs.
The ORUs then convert the digital CPRI packet data stream back to RF and amplify the signal for delivery to the antennas. On the reverse path (uplink), the ORUs and OMU perform the inverse functions and delivery the signals back to the corresponding off-air antenna, BDAs or Base Stations
The M-DOTS™ OMU is 19″ rack design
OMU is typically located at a Base Station. On the forward path (Downlink), the OMU receives the RF signals from the BTS and digitizes the RF signals to digital CPRI data stream, and digitally transports them over single mode fiber to the Remote Units. On the reverse path (Uplink), the OMU receives the digitized RF signals from the Remote Unit and converts them back to RF for the BTS.
Multi-bands | Multi-operators | Multi-technologies
Our OMU supports up to six RF bands. All each RF band can be set to be FDD or TDD mode in factory, very flexible design, and supports up to 100MHz bandwidth RF signals in each RF band, these two points are very important to be capable of simulcasting signals for multiple bands/technologies/operators and MIMO, even ultra-wide bandwidth requirement for future 5G NR TDD. One fiber core can support 400MHz DL and 400MHz UL, and dual cores double to 800MHz DL and 800MHz UL.
The OMU utilizes an embedded WEB management for system configuration and network monitoring. it collects alarm information from both OMUs and ORUs, it means that you can very easy to monitor all ORUs in network from OMU, but no need to go to every remote site.
The M-DOTS™ ORU Utilizes a patented compact IP67 Outdoor Cabinet
The typical mounting options for the ORU include pole-mount and wall-mount. And the enclosure of the M-DOTS™ – ORU utilizes a patented outdoor aluminum cabinet design which is fully sealed IP-67 rated with unique 250mm depth super compact design, which minimizes maintenance and is ideal for harsh environments, such Metro Tunnels.
Hot-Swappable External Fan Tray
The ORU owns a hot-swappable external Fan Tray with four high-performance temperature-controlled fans with IP65-rated waterproof design, it is ideal & flexible field replaceable units (FRUs) for increasing ventilation for ORU, better airflow keeps device cool and helps boost system performance and avoids costly equipment failures.
If a fan fails, it is very easy to replace the tray using a screwdriver on site and which is much more available for Critical-mission application.
Flexible & Scalable Architecture By Modular Design
The ORU Utilize a modular design, which support up to six RF bands, each ORU allows for easy field access and future upgrades to add RF bands or technologies by adding RF card or simple Hot Swap.
The RF sub-system of each Band adopts individual modular design with a handle, the power wires and RF cables to each RF sub-system all be deployed through specific wireways along two side inside cabinet without any cross each other.
Smart Power Supply Management
There are a Smart Power Supply Management Unit (PSMU) has total 6 DC power supply output and separate air-break switch for each RF sub-systems.
And the PSMU supports remotely restart function and offer various monitoring function about power supply, such as current, voltage, leakage current, switch status, trip cause and etc.
Redundancy Additional Switching Power Supply
Redundancy design on public safety or critical-mission application is always critical, As up to six RF Bands with up to 43dBm high RF power design, HELIOS M-DOTS adopts ingenuity modular design that assembly two pluggable & full sealed IP-65 rated Switching Power Supply, each Switching Power Supply supports up to 900 Watts power consumption.
Multi-Bands | Multi-operators | Multi-technologies
The M-DOTS™ – ORU utilize a modular design, which supports up to six RF bands and up to 100MHz bandwidth RF signals per bands and enables multiple bands/technologies/operators and MIMO, even ultra-wide bandwidth requirement for future 5G NR.
Each RF bands can be configured to be FDD or TDD mode in factory and supports synchronization for TDD-LTE multi-Channel.
RF composite DL Output power up to +43dBm per Band
Loop Redundancy & optical bypass
Redundancy is an important part of network design for preventing disruption of network services by minimizing the possibility of a single point of failure.
